As software testers, we spend a large portion of our time (hopefully) pushing applications to the limits and using them in both expected and unexpected ways. This is, of course, all in the hopes of revealing underlying issues so they can be fixed before the software makes it to the end user. Thus, whether we do manual testing, automated testing, or both, one of our most critical job functions is taking the problems we discover and documenting them in bug reports so they can be resolved.
