Hi there! I have 100 VPS servers with 1GB ram running Ubuntu 12.04 with the LXDE Desktop Environment (to reduce the amount of RAM and CPU to run the OS). I finally managed to install Java, and Tri-Bot and everything is working good, however I am running very low on RAM & CPU. So...I was thinking...What if I remove the GUI (Desktop Environment) completely, and just launch Tri-Bot from the terminal. This would lower the amount of RAM and CPU the OS uses since it does not have to load a Desktop Environment anymore. Is something like this possible? I have read that you can launch a GUI version of FireFox on linux without the need for a Desktop Environment. All you need is X11. Could I launch Tri-Bot using X11? If so, how would I un-install all of the Desktop Environments, and force the server to only display terminal? Note: Unfortunately I cannot install a new OS. I MUST use Ubuntu 12.04, and modify it. If something like this is not possible, how can I remove bloat-ware from ubuntu to make it use less resources?
